Spot fixing a Dirty side of Sports

Point fixing is an illegal activity that destroys the integrity of the sport. It is something that is not limited to cricket, it is found in almost every sport of the new era. It is about producing certain pre-planned events depending on the bet against him. The betting market is then entertained in this scenario. This is different from match-fixing in which the result of the match is corrupted.

These shameful activities are mostly reported in cricket. Corrupt practices in Pakistani cricket are all too common and the most infamous of all episodes is the one where Salman Butt, Mr. Amir and Mr. Asif were caught red-handed cheating in 2010. Premier cricket leagues of India, Pakistan and Australia also reported similar events.

In view of this safety and honesty of the sport, various sports organizations have created appropriate policies against such acts and are taking very severe actions. Umar Akmal’s recent activity in Pakistani cricket, failing to signal corrupt approaches, resulted in him being banned from all kinds of cricket for 3 years. This kind of activity destroys the true nature of sport and puts his country to shame.
