Yogi Kombucha Green Tea Review
I am someone who loves to drink green tea everyday so I was very intrigued when I came across Yogi Green Tea Kombucha. I don’t normally drink flavored green tea, but this one I had to try because it sounded so interesting. With the kombucha added, I thought it would be even healthier! So if you want to try something different, here is my in-depth review of this Yogi Green Tea so you can decide for yourself if you want to try it.

The ingredients used in this tea blend are all organic which means no pesticides and harmful toxins.
Here is a full list of ingredients:
- Organic green tea leaf
- Organic lemongrass
- Organic spearmint leaf
- Organic dried kombucha (from fermented black tea)
- Organic passion fruit flavor
- Organic plum flavor
What I really like about Yogi Tea is that it does not contain any artificial ingredients. Everything on the list is 100% natural.
The special ingredient in this tea blend is of course kombucha which is fermented tea. Normally, this is drunk on its own and has a very distinctive taste.
Just like green tea, kombucha also contains antioxidants and can help lower cholesterol.
It is not known what percentage of kombucha is in this tea blend and Yogi customer service declined to reveal the percentage of each of the ingredients, claiming that “this is proprietary information.” However, they said that “the ingredients are listed in descending order of predominance”.
When the tea brews, the aroma is lovely – it’s really fruity (surprisingly) which I didn’t expect. It must come from an added natural flavor – passion fruit and plum flavors which are additional ingredients and not some of the main ingredients.
I can also smell some mint in the background which is one of the main ingredients (spearmint leaf). And the taste? Will it impress?
On the first sip, the first thing I taste isn’t the fruit, it’s definitely the mint that passes. So while the tea smells really fruity, the taste is different and the mint takes over and the fruity flavors are in the background.
I drink my tea without sugar or sweetener. And this tea certainly doesn’t need anything added.
The overall taste is lovely, slightly minty, barely fruity and certainly not bitter although I may experience some astringency afterwards.
Yogi Kombucha green tea doesn’t taste like green or black tea, it’s more like herbal tea, to be honest.
How much caffeine is in Yogi Kombucha green tea?
Each tea bag contains approximately 15 mg of caffeine. That’s not a lot – if you compare it to 8 oz of coffee which has around 90 mg of it.
Where do the ingredients come from?
Yogi sources its ingredients from different parts of the world and the ingredients used in its Kombucha Green Tea come from several countries, including the United States, Egypt and China. Their customer service did not specify which ingredient came from which country.
Does Yogi kombucha green tea contain probiotics?
Here is the process of how dried kombucha for Yogi kombucha green tea is made: First, a live kombucha culture is used to create an infusion of kombucha, black tea, and water. The kombucha starter is added to the black tea infusion and a fermentation process begins.
After fermentation, the water in this mixture is then removed by a dry spray pasteurization process. Due to this pasteurization process, Yogi Green Tea Kombucha tea does not contain living organisms and probiotics like traditional raw kombucha. However, Yogi confirmed that acids, a beneficial byproduct of kombucha, remain in tea when brewed according to the directions on the carton.
Does Yogi kombucha green tea contain alcohol?
The alcohol from the kombucha brew dissipates in the spray pasteurization process. However, Yogi do not test for residual alcohol in their teas and although it is highly unlikely that they will contain alcohol, residues can be left in them.
The final verdict
Overall, Yogi Kombucha Green Tea is a delicious tea with health benefits and wonderful flavor. If you love herbal teas, you will definitely love this one, but if you want to reap the benefits of kombucha, better drink it in its raw form to reap the benefits of its probiotics.
