The Central Council for Secondary Education (CBSE) has provided a huge break for students in grades 10 and 12, as they will now have the chance to appear for improvement papers and improve their performance in the same year. school.

However, this will be limited to a single topic, the CBSE said in a notification. Previously, students who wished to take the advanced exams had to wait a full year to sit for the exams.

The CBSE circular indicates that “this authorization will be made available to candidates who sit for the 2021 exam and if they wish to improve their performance in a given subject, they can apply again for the compartment exam for appearing improve their performance. ”

The new rules will take effect from the 2021 CBSE board reviews, which are expected to start in May.

The changes were introduced as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) which aims to make exams low stakes. The NEP had suggested that students in grades 10 and 12 have more opportunities to score well.

CBSE students will now enjoy the following benefits, in line with NEP recommendations:

Pupils in grades 10 and 12 of the board will have the opportunity to improve their scores in a subject on the compartment exams, which will take place immediately after the end of the main board exams.

The better of the two grades obtained by a CBSE student in a particular subject will be taken into account by the pedagogical committee when preparing the final grade sheet.

Applicants who improve their performance will receive a combined score sheet.

For students who wish to take a new test for more than one subject, the previous rules would apply and they would have to wait for the exams with the next group of students.

On top of that, the CBSE has cut the all subjects curriculum by 30% for the 2021 board exams amid pandemic stress for students.

In addition, to make the low-stakes exams under the NEP, the board also decided to increase the number of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) by about 10 percent each year.

CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021 are scheduled to start from May 4, 2021. Exams for class 10 would end on June 8 and for class 12 on June 14. The CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021 date sheet is available at cbse.nic.in.
