Cristiano Ronaldo chat with Pepe during Juventus vs Porto now looks awkward
Cristiano Ronaldo. Simply because we’ve seen Cristiano Ronaldo put on a lot of heroic performances over the years.
It was so surprising to see Cristiano fail to inspire Juventus at home against FC Porto in the Champions League the last 16 this month (earlier).
Juve were actually trailed 2-1 from the first leg and were kicked out of the competition on away goal just after winning the second leg 3-2.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been so condemned for his role in the defeat of Juve.
He was actually part of the dismal wall that led to Sergio Oliveira’s spectacular late free kick that found the back of the net.
If Cristiano Ronaldo hadn’t turned his back, it is very possible that Juventus would be competing with Chelsea in the quarter-finals instead of Porto.
Comment from Nicola Amoruso to Sky Sports Italia
Here’s what former Juve striker Nicola Amoruso told Sky Sports Italia, by goal, after the game:
“He’s afraid of being shot in the face because he cares about his image.”
It was Cristiano Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid teammate. Pepe won the applause following an excellent individual performance in Turin.
Fans praised the 38-year-old just after making 18 clearances and winning 100% of his aerial duels.
But, images emerged two weeks later. Discover an engaging conversation between the Portuguese player and Pepe during the match.
Find out what Cristiano Ronaldo said to Pepe
In the images published by UEFA on their Instagram account. And also attracted attention by the Spanish newspaper AS Cristiano Ronaldo was heard saying to Pepe:
“Play it! I’ll win and it will be with you on the pitch.
He repeats: “I will win and it will be with you on the pitch.”
Considering what happened then, the images seem somewhat embarrassing for the Portuguese player.
Perhaps these are the words that encouraged and motivated Pepe to give his best performance in a Porto jersey.
For once, at least, the Portuguese player couldn’t back his words of confidence by producing the merchandise on the pitch.
Pepe ended up having the last laugh.
