In this article, you will learn how to use smart tags in your OptinMonster campaigns.

Have you ever wished you could recognize your prospects and customers if they visit your website… and provide them with a unique experience?

That is to say…

  • You can address your website users by first name.
  • Create dynamic content that is unique to each visitor based on the information you have about them (name, interests, previous purchases, etc.).
  • And there’s more …

Website personalization is successful!

According to reports from Jupiter Research and Annuitas Group, brands that use personalization are seeing major improvements in customer retention, 20% more sales opportunities and 18x more revenue.

Unfortunately, most dynamic website content tools can cost you thousands of dollars per month.

Personalize your website with dynamic text replacement

Dynamic text replacement will help you personalize your website.
Use smart dynamic content on your site marketing campaigns is simpler and more affordable than ever, thanks to the Smart Tags function of OptinMonster.

You can use merge tags in your one-click onsite marketing campaigns, just like you can in your emails for content personalization.

You can add all kinds of merge tags using our easy-to-drag-and-drop pop-up builder: date or day of the week; region, state, zip code or country. You can also include any information provided by the guest, such as their name, email address, or phone number.

Insert a smart tag

When creating a campaign, you can use smart tags to personalize the text. You have the option of using our predefined smart tags or creating your own custom smart tags.

Follow these steps to add a smart tag:

– In the countryside builder, you can add or Edit a text functionality

-To choose a predefined smart tag, select the braces icon.

-Select the smart tag you like, and it will be automatically added to the text field editor.

(Optional) Set a default value for the smart tag in case it fails to locate the information it needs.

-When you’re done, click Save Changes.

-The smart tag will be replaced by the dynamic meaning once the campaign goes live.

Smart tag format

Two opening braces must precede each smart tag, followed by two closing braces. This allows us to decide which material in your campaign needs to be replaced. The first value should be the name of a custom variable you created or a predefined smart tag.

{{SMART_TAG_NAME}}

In case the tag information cannot be identified, you can use a pipe character (|) followed by text by default.

{{SMART_TAG_NAME | DEFAULT_TEXT}}

Examples of smart tags

Here is an example of a Smart Tag displaying the visitor’s first name.

{{form_first_name}}

With default text

In this example, we are using the same smart tag, but optionally we have specified “Visitor” as the default text to use if the tag information cannot be found:

{{form_first_name|VISITOR}}

Dynamic and intelligent content increases publisher engagement.

In order to make a profit, bloggers and media companies need visitors to linger and connect to their content, but the attention span of today’s visitors is shorter than ever.

By showing smart interactive content to the right person at the right time, OptinMonster’s smart tags help you keep your audience’s attention and increase interaction.

Smart tags allow you to personalize offers for your audience based on the day, date, physical location, and content they’re watching, among other factors.

By designing personalized marketing strategies that are optimized for each visitor, you increase the ROI of your website. This content personalization feature will help you lower your bounce rate and increase your engagement metrics.
