Romania vs Germany Prediction: World Cup Qualifier | 28.03.2021
Germany and Romania got off to a perfect start in Group J on Thursday night, but at least one of their perfect records will be halted on Sunday night as they face off in Bucharest.
World Cup qualifying preview
Germany have managed to put their disappointing 2018 World Cup performances behind them in recent outings, and they are looking back to a place close to their best. However, it was necessary to put in a big performance against Iceland on Thursday night, as the memories of their 6-0 Nations League loss to Spain were still very fresh. Germany produced an emphatic display to erase the loss and get on track to become the first in Group J, beating Iceland 3-0. The margin of victory could have been much wider, since they took over in the second period. Leon Goretzka and Kai Havertz put the Germans in a dominant position after just seven minutes, before Ilkay Gundogen continued his excellent scoring season by adding the third ten minutes into the second half.
Romania were forced to try their luck in their Group J opener, as they lost a 2-0 lead, before scoring a late winner to secure all three points. Florin Tanase and Valentin Mihalla scored the goals to put Romania in the lead, before North Macedonia responded with two quick-fire goals within two minutes. However, the hosts weren’t denied a win on opening night and quickly came back forward. Ianis Hagi scored the winner for Romania just two minutes after the traveling team thought they had done enough to take a point away from the game.
Romania vs Germany head to head
