Jon Jones responds to Dana White’s offer to fight Francis Ngannou
Maybe Dana White thinks Jon Jones should have some doubts about his heavyweight move?
Francis Ngannou has just won the UFC heavyweight championship by knocking out Stipe Miocic at UFC 260. And already many are eagerly awaiting her first title defense, which many assume she will face. former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, which will pass to heavyweights.
While Ngannou had no answer for Miocic’s fight in the first fight, he obliterated Miocic this time around, stuffing a takedown and landing several hard punches en route to a KO in the second round.
Although Jones is considered one of the best fighters, regardless of his weight class, to enter the world of MMA, questions have arisen as to how he would be able to handle Ngannou’s power.
During his post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White was asked about the potential heavyweight title fight Ngannou-Jones, and he joked that Jones should maybe -be reversed its trajectory and turn to the middle weights.
Jon Jones responds to Dana White by saying he should watch 185 and avoid new heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou
White, however, said that “show me the money” could mean a lot – and it seemed like he was really questioning Jones’ willingness to participate in this potential fight.
Jones took note of White’s comment and laughed at it, apparently not looking back after gaining weight in the gym, focused on the heavyweight movement.
He did say, however, that he wanted to get what he felt was appropriate compensation for such a fight.
A fight between Ngannou and Jones – maybe for an interim heavyweight championship – it looked like it could have happened last year as a trilogy fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier seemed to be in limbo. But Jones and the UFC fell into negotiation issues, with Jones even threatens to walk away from the sport at one point.
Ngannou vs Jones is no guarantee. There’s also the chance of a trilogy fight between Ngannou and Miocic, as well as the chance of an untitled fight for Jones for a heavyweight debut.
Jones hasn’t fought since defending the light heavyweight title in February 2020 against Dominick Reyes.
