There has been a ton of speculation about what Chet Holmgren, the 2021 class’s highest ranked basketball rookie according to 247Sports, will do after graduating from high school.
Schools across the country have been looking for Holmgren for over a year, while the G-League also offers a viable path to the pro ranks for the country’s No.1 rookie. However, Holmgren provided some insight into his future in a recent interview with CBS Sports HQ, stating that he does indeed plan to pick a school to attend after high school.
“Yeah I’m really looking to find a college to play in”, Holmgren said. “My decision will definitely depend on my place in school, from basketball to academics.”
Holmgren recently reduced his recruiting to a list of finalists that included Georgetown, Gonzaga, Memphis, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina and Ohio State. Gonzaga is currently considered the favorite to land Holmgren, as his 247 Sports crystal ball reads 100% in favor of Bulldogs.
“It’s great to see the fans (on social media) trying to drive me to their school,” Holmgren said. “I don’t let him play too much in my decision because at the end of the day I have to find what is best for me and my future. Wherever I end up I’m sure their fans will be the happiest for me. “
