Everton’s victory put more pressure on those who passed them in the race for Champions League places, while leaving Arsenal far behind the pack.

The Merseyside club are 52 points just three points behind Chelsea in fourth while Arsenal are ninth.

Leno knocked down Richarlison’s cross with his own legs in the 76th minute to give the Toffees the lead in what was one of their only attacks of the second half.

Arsenal received a penalty after Richarlison fouled Dani Ceballos but the decision was overturned as another controversial VAR review concluded Nicolas Pepe was offside in the preparation.
