Right-hander Brandon Woodruff struck out eight of six scoreless innings, and the Milwaukee Brewers retired to a 6-0 win over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday afternoon.

Woodruff (2-0) allowed two hits and two goals for his first career victory in 11 games against Chicago. Luis Urias had a two-run single, Kolten Wong had an RBI brace and Travis Shaw led in a pair of runs as Milwaukee won the rubber game of the three-game series.

The Cubs have been ruled out for the third time this season – all of which have come against the Brewers. David Bote, Javier Baez and Matt Duffy had one apiece and Anthony Rizzo doubled for the team’s only hits.

Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta (3-2) took the loss out of bad luck despite just one run on two hits in six innings. He walked three and pulled out eight.

The Brewers opened the scoring at the top of the first. They loaded the bases with no one after Wong netted a brace, Omar Narvaez made a left field single and Avisail Garcia drew.

Shaw counted the first RBI of the game after doing the full count and observing an away lead for the fourth ball.

Arrieta quickly recovered to prevent a big Brewers run. He got Keston Hiura out at first base, Billy McKinney in hitting the swing, and Jackie Bradley Jr. in heading to second base to end the base-laden threat.

The Cubs played without a hitting until the fourth inning, when Bote made a left field single. Chicago had two games with no one but failed to score after the end of the set on a double play.

Milwaukee threatened again in the sixth with runners in the first and third without a person. Arrieta worked out of the jam with three straight strikeouts against Shaw, Hiura and McKinney.

The Brewers nailed five runs in the ninth to put the game out of reach. The first six batters of the inning have reached base safely. Urias and Wong delivered hits before Shaw was hit with a pitch with the bases loaded. Tyrone Taylor drew a step loaded with bases to top the score.
