Granada vs Real Madrid Prediction: La Liga | 13.05.2021

The La Liga title race took another turn on Tuesday night, as Barcelona held on. This left the door wide open for Real Madrid to jump on their rivals. Madrid will travel to Granada on Thursday evening.

La Liga preview

Real Madrid appear to be the most consistent team in the La Liga title race at this point as they are the only one of the three teams not to lose in their last six. However, they have shot too many games from Zinedine Zidane’s perspective on this series of games as they have only collected one point in half of their six games. Madrid have struggled to take their chances in recent weeks as they have won only once in their previous three. They were held for the third time in five league appearances last weekend, as Eden Hazard scored in the 94th minute to win a 2-2 home draw against Sevilla. Real needed to come back twice from behind in this game, and it never felt like a game they were handling with any sort of poise. Marco Asensio scored the other goal in the game for Madrid.

Granada will not be able to qualify for Europe for the second consecutive season this season as they are nine points off the top six. Mathematically, it’s not yet impossible, but their difference in goals seems too inferior to at least make it a challenge. Granada have struggled in recent weeks, losing three out of four. They also come into this game against Madrid after back-to-back La Liga defeats. The most recent of their defeats came against Real Betis. It would have been disappointing to lose two on the rebound after an impressive win over Barcelona in late April.

Granada vs Real Madrid head to head

Granada have only beaten Real Madrid once in their last 15 meetings. This victory came back in February 2013. Since then, Real have won the eleven previous meetings. Madrid secured a comfortable victory earlier in the season, after missing the winners 2-0.

Granada vs Real Madrid prediction

All the teams in the top three of La Liga are losing points at this important stage of the season. Madrid can’t afford anything other than a win on Thursday and we expect them to claim the maximum points.
