Man City vs Chelsea (0-1) May 29, 2021 Player Ratings and Stats
Chelsea won the Champions League for the second time, beating Manchester City 1-0 with a goal from Kai Havertz settling the match in Porto.
The Blues shaped the best opportunities early in the game and after Timo Werner missed a trio of chances Havertz beat Ederson to roll the ball into an empty net.
N’Golo Kante produced an outstanding performance in the heart of the Chelsea midfielder, where he carried out his defensive duties in a virtually flawless manner. As usual, play the game superbly and cover a lot of ground. A supreme display.
Raheem Sterling was the surprise selection of Pep Guardiola’s starting XI. The winger has been out of form for much of the season and continued that trend in this meeting. Replaced by Sergio Aguero 10 minutes from time, the Argetine produced more moments of danger in this cameo than the man he took over.
Chelsea’s most expensive signing in club history struggled to justify that status, but scored an invaluable goal for them at Porto as he beat Ederson in a run to a crossing ball and then went on to threw a shot into an empty net three minutes before the break. His performance was much more than that, however, as he created chances for others and was the most imaginative offensive player.
