Why second dose of Pfizer Covid vaccine is more violent than AstraZeneca: expert clarifies
A lot of people have a hard time with Side effects after the second dose of Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine; with AstraZeneca, on the other hand, the first dose is much more violent than the next. But why is it like this?
Like Moderna, Pfizer is an mRNA vaccine, mRNA stands for Messenger Ribonucleic Acid. A genetic blueprint is transported via nucleic acid, whereby cells themselves produce the corona protein.
The result: the body reacts to it and strengthens its defenses.
But why is the reaction to the second vaccination more violent with the mRNA vaccine than with the first vaccination?
According to experts consulted by Revyuh, mRNA is first introduced into the cell and it takes some time before enough protein is produced, the immune response is slower with an mRNA vaccine. The second blow is then a little more violent because the immune system is already a little trained and has been in contact with the foreign protein and can therefore produce antibodies in a faster immune response.
With AstraZeneca Covid Vaccine, it’s the other way around – why?
The Astrazeneca vaccine is a vector vaccine. It uses a virus as a means of transport, a so-called vector.
Since you are essentially vaccinating a virus with a vector vaccine and the immune system reacts to the vector, the first immune reaction is simply stronger.
Why do vaccine side effects occur?
Most people react relatively harmlessly to vaccination. For example, some react more strongly to the tick vaccination than to the corona vaccination.
An immune reaction in the body involves a number of biochemical processes that release messenger substances that lead to fever.
But such reactions would not only occur with a corona vaccination.
Should you be worried if you don’t see any side effects?
Some fear that if they have not had a serious vaccination reaction, they may not be immune at all.
Whether someone reacts weaker or stronger has nothing to do with vaccine protection.
If you want to check exactly the quality of the immune response to the vaccination, you can have an antibody titre taken. The titre is a measure of the number of certain antibodies in the blood.
This helps determine the level of antibody two weeks after vaccination, its level and how the immune system responded to it.
