Mikel Arteta sends message to Arsenal board over Martin Odegaard’s future
Arteta has been impressed with the 22-year-old midfielder since joining Real Madrid in January and wants to be able to call on him next season. Odegaard had a great week in Arsenal’s colors.
He beltered Olympiacos in the Europa League before finding the net in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur. Arteta wants the Norwegian captain to stay and, according to the Daily Mail, he has told the club he wants the club to consider a deal.
Arsenal chiefs are ready to keep him if finances allow a deal to materialize. They are said to be ready to extend his loan for another season and also consider making his stay permanent.
Talks will be open with parent club Real Madrid at the end of this campaign, but a deal could be impacted if Arsenal do not qualify for Europe. Real Madrid are reportedly ready to sell the midfielder this summer as they look to raise funds to sign Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.
Odegaard has hinted that he wants to extend his stay in the Emirates. ‘I’ve said many times that I’m looking for stability [at the same club], but I couldn’t find it, ” Odegaard told VG.
“I think it will be important to find stability. I’m very happy at Arsenal, I’m having fun. I like to be here. “Now my goal is to finish the season, so we’ll see.
