NRL news, Des Hasler set to sign final coaching contract in NRL: report

Hasler’s new contract with the Manly Sea Eagles will be the last coaching contract he signs in the NRL.

The rugby league icon is set to sign a new two-year deal that will see him lead the Silvertails until the end of the 2023 season, and according to Nine’s Danny Weidler, that will mark the last time the Hasler coaches in the LNR.

“Just before Christmas he made a deal with Manly to stay another two years,” Weidler told Nine’s 100% Footy last night.

“The contracts were then sent to the lawyers. They probably took longer than expected to sort this out because Manly was trying to announce it during their preseason launch. This does not happen.

“Instead, his new deal will be announced by the club this week. Des is happy about that.”

“The other interesting thing I hear about is that this will be the last coaching contract Des Hasler makes.

“I think after two more years at Manly that will be it. He can then move on to a big kahuna role or a coaches coordinator type role where he oversees the club. But I think that will be the last contract. trainer that Des does. “

This opens the door to an intriguing scenario for Hasler who reportedly agreed to move on to a front office position with the Sea Eagles once his coaching tenure is over.

It is unclear how far he will continue at the club, however, it looks like Hasler’s legacy on Sydney’s North Beaches will continue to grow for years to come.

Last night, Weidler first announced the impending extension of Hasler’s contract after days of speculation after a superb 46-6 walloping at the hands of the Roosters in the opening round of the NRL this weekend.

Hasler is currently in the final year of a three-year contract with Manly. It was a comeback as a coach of stones and diamonds at his former club. The Sea Eagles were knocked out in Week 2 of the 2019 Finals, before ending a disappointing 13th last season.
