Bowling coach Waqar to miss Zimbabwe series due to wife’s surgery

Harare: Pakistan men’s bowling team coach Waqar Younis has decided to quit touring Zimbabwe and return to Australia immediately because of his wife’s surgery.

Waqar, 49, who lives in Sydney, will leave the team today while his wife Faryal Waqar will undergo surgery after Ramadan.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Waqar is leaving early as he will need to be quarantined for 14 days in accordance with the Australian government’s COVID-19 protocols.

It should be noted that the Pakistani team has already reached Harare to play T20I and two tests. The T20I series begins on April 21, followed by two games on April 23 and 25.
