IPL 2021: Kolkata get back to winning ways vs Punjab, Morgan and bowlers lift team | XtraTime
On Monday night, Kolkata Knight Riders finally returned to victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL, Indian T-20 League) against the Punjab Kings. Playing on the surface of the newly built Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad Kolkata, the bowlers raised their game as they with Captain Morgan with the bat secured a five-wicket victory for the team.
Punjab Kings struck first in this game. They started off slowly. They lost their first wicket as Captain Rahul tried to increase the race rate. He perished for 19. Soon followed by Gayle (0) and Deepak Hooda (1). Pooran (19) and Mayank (31) tried to give the heats some momentum but were unsuccessful. It was Chris Jordan’s quickfire 30 on 18 balls that put the Punjab over 120 as they posted 123/9. The KKR bowlers did a good job. Prasidh krishan took three wickets and Narine and Cummins bought two wickets each.
The pursuit of 124 races to win Kolkata started off poorly. As they lost 3 wickets for only 17 races. Gill (9), Rana (0) and Narine (0) all returned to the lodge at a good price. Rahul Tripathi and Captain Morgan started the recovery by counterattacking the Punjab attack. Tripathi fell for 41 runs of 32 balls. Shortly after his dismissal, Andre Russell went to the low cost clubhouse for just 10 races after being exhausted due to poor communication between him and Morgan. Morgan (47 *) stayed until the end and with Karthik he secured 5 wicket wins for Kolkata with 20 balls to lose.
