Borussia Dortmund lower their valuation for Jadon Sancho to £78 million
According to Goal, Borussia Dortmund have lowered the asking price for Jadon Sancho after the confirmation of a gentleman’s agreement between the club and the striker. The 21-year-old is considered one of the brightest young prospects in the world and has contributed 30 goals this season.
Jadon Sancho has always been one of Dortmund’s most valuable assets in recent years, with the club fending off potential buyers and tying him to a long-term contract seemed to be the initial plan after his prolific form last season. But things have changed since then, with Sancho’s summer transfer saga playing a part in his slow start to the season alongside injuries, the forward has not been at his best this quarter.
But with players like Jude Bellingham, Gio Reyna, the ubiquitous Erling Haaland and a few others stepping up, Sancho’s absence has hardly been a problem. Still, that hasn’t diminished interest in the 21-year-old with more than a good chunk of top Europeans eager to move. However, with Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc confirming the presence of a gentleman’s agreement that could allow Sancho to leave, Goal revealed that the club have lowered their asking price to £ 78million.
Like most clubs around the world, Dortmund have been hit by the financial crisis caused by the onset of Covid 19 and have reportedly considered selling one of their young superstars this summer, despite the club keen to keep both. But with the interest of Chelsea, Manchester United and a few others in Jadon Sancho, the move could be made possible if certain conditions, which Zorc revealed as part of the deal, were met by a suitor.
Manchester United appear to be the winger’s likely destination although reports suggest United’s willingness to fund the transfer appears to be on hold for now. Chelsea have also been linked, but reports reveal their interest lies in Erling Haaland as they step up their search for a striker. While the club have also reportedly lowered their asking price to £ 108million, that remains to be seen in the outcome of an already dragged transfer saga over Jadon Sancho’s next potential destination.
