Assam government introduces new brakes to contain spread of coronavirus

New Government of Assam introduced new restrictions and increased the length of the curfew to stop the outbreak of Covid case. Assam on Wednesday announced new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for urban and semi-urban areas.

There will be a ban on movement of individuals from 2 p.m. to 5 a.m. every day. All stores and commercial establishments will close from 1 p.m. daily. Weekly bazaars will not be allowed for 15 days. All educational institutions must provide virtual learning options for students. No physical classes are allowed for 15 days. All offices – government and non-government – will be closed for 15 days.

Government / semi-government officials at Undersecretary level and above and senior managers from non-government sectors as well as their key support staff will be allowed to visit offices until 1:00 p.m. only for office work. ’emergency.

Weddings and religious functions will be limited to private matters and a maximum of ten people will be allowed. No reception will be allowed after or before the wedding. The funeral / final rites can be attended by no more than 10 people. All religious places will remain closed for 15 days. However, the religious leader or his representative may perform a minimum of religious rituals / prayers during this period of closure.

All public transport will only be allowed to operate up to 30% of the capacity. Autorickshaws, mopeds and taxis must be driven with one driver and two passengers. Driving as a passenger is prohibited on two-wheelers, except with women and children. All vehicles, other than government vehicles, will be allowed to travel according to an odd even formula to be decided by the jurisdiction. District Disaster Management Authority between 5 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Mahanta told mediapersons, “If someone or an organization organizes a function or event that violates government orders and SOPs, it will be treated as a betrayal against the company. In this case, we will not only apply the simple Indian Penal Code or the provisions of the Disaster Management Act… but the more stringent law would be applied against them. ”

“Those who organize a function, party, meeting or any type of gathering may face charges similar to attempted murder,” added the DGP.

Assam has so far recorded 3.04,429 positive cases for Covid-19 and 1,838 people have died from the disease. To examine the Covid situation, the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assigned different districts to his ministers. Sarma will monitor the Covid situation in the Majuli district. Ministers will monitor the evolution of the number of Covid cases and compliance with restrictions in the districts assigned to them.

They will assess the adequacy of health care facilities to deal with the current and projected number of Covid cases, in addition to guiding and supporting the district administration in coordinating with the health and well-being of the family. and other departments. The ministers will keep the Chief Minister and the Minister of Health and Family Welfare informed on a regular basis.
